Daniel Hale

Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development

Daniel Hale started with 4-H as a 4-H Junior Summer Camper when he was 9 years old. At the age of 14, he became a Teen Counselor with the then Bedford/Franklin 4-H Camping program. He began to volunteer with other programs outside of camp and decided that he wanted to be a 4-H Agent. In 2008, Daniel began volunteering for the Bedford County 4-H Agent and learned a lot about the position and the work of a 4-H agent, such as camp planning and operations. He worked with the Bedford 4-H Agent implementing in-school, afterschool, and summer programs including Junior 4-H Camp for nine years and Virginia 4-H State Congress for 3 years. In 2012, he was hired in the Bedford County Extension Office as the VCE Intern, using the skills he learned as a volunteer during the previous four years he was able to step in when the 4-H Agent was unable to attend camp. This included planning and leading camp for that season as well as providing structure and supervision during the Virginia 4-H State Congress. In the summers of 2013 and 2015, Daniel was rehired in Bedford to plan and lead the Bedford camping program.

At the end of the summer of 2013, Daniel was hired in Buckingham as the 4-H Technician and has worked there until present. While in Buckingham, Daniel has done a variety of 4-H Programs; including in-school and after-school enrichment, educational, and recreational programming with youth from 4 to19 years of age.
