The City of Danville office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of City of Danville improve their lives. SCPAR 2022

Southside Commercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification

The annual Southside Commercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification will be held on March 8, 2022 at Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex in Chatham, Virginia. This day long event will provide training and certification credit hours to commercial pesticide applicators in Virginia and North Carolina. Interested in Becoming a Master Gardener?

Every year, the Danville Master Gardeners hold an annual class to train new Master Gardeners. Members of this organization are very involved in the community and take on a variety of gardening projects.  

The training program will be a self-paced, computer-based program interspersed with several in-person labs.  Registration for the class will begin in January 2022, with the program beginning in March 2022.  To be added to the mailing list to receive information on the 2022 Master Gardener class, please see one of our Master Gardeners at the Danville Community Market or call (434) 799-6558.

Boxwood Blight

Boxwood Blight has been found on multiple properties in Danville, VA.  The plant pathogen spreads very easily and there is currently no existing treatment for a disease.  For information on how to stop the spread of Boxwood Blight and resistant cultivars please references the publications below also mentioned in the Danville Register & Bee In the Yard:
