Alani Adkins

Associate Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences

Alani Adkins, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, completed a Bachelor's of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics) from North Carolina A&T State University in May of 2013.  As an undergrad, she worked as a food microbiology research assistant on projects focusing on food safety.  Alani continued her education at A&T and received a Master's of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences in May of 2015. 

As a graduate student, she worked as a research assistant on projects related to nutrition.  Alani started working at Virginia Cooperative Extension in May of 2015 where she serves as the Family and Consumer Science SNAP-Ed Extension Agent serving Danville, Pittsylvania County, Halifax County, Martinsville, and Henry County areas.  As a SNAP-Ed Agent Alani provides obesity prevention direct eduction through the train the trainer model to low income/low resources populations.  She also partners with many organizations to create a culture of health through policy, systems, and environmental changes. 

Alani has many hobbies including baking and jewelry making.  She has a dog named Milo.
